The Hollywood Celebrity is close to the attractions, but I have stopped recommending it. I now recommend the Hollywood Renaissance if you want something upscale, or the Holiday Inn if you want something a little less pricey.
Never stayed at the celebrity, I was scared away by the trip adviser reviews and the location. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Hollywood (walk of Fame) AT 2005 No. Highland @ Franklin. the staff is courteous and professional and the hotel is clean comfortable and secure. Minutes away from Hollywood Blvd, The Sunset strip, Universal and the Hollywood Bowl.
The Roosevelt Hotel is an old classic, but when I stayed there 10 years ago (which is, admittedly a long time), it didn’t appear to be too well maintained.
The Hollywood Renaissance Hotel at 1755 Highland is a very nice upscale hotel.
I stayed there once on a Priceline booking, which made it a somewhat better deal, and was quite happy with it.
You can get reasonable deals via Priceline on hotels in nearby parts of the San Fernando Valley (Studio City / Burbank / Universal City) as well.
