When you buy a product or something of interest for you, is this decision based on any Hollywood influence?
Just like Hollywood heavyweights supporting their presidential candiates, it may be their so called "freedom of speech" but why then would these celebrities go on tv or media outlets and tell everyone that they’re indorsing Obama or Clinton?
If for reason they think it will help their candidate?

It works with young & older children.
This is an old school advertising tactic. (Read a great book by one of my favorites, George Parker, Ad Scam.)
Hollywood has absolutely no influence on my purchasing decisions. In fact, want to turn me off, toss a celebrity at me. Turn me off more? Toss a whole bunch of irrelevant, annoying wannabe hipster Target or similar commercials at me.
As someone who works in advertising, trust me, it ain’t "freedom of speech" –I’m using this in quotes to indicate my sarcasm– it’s a marketing tactic. It’s just plain old fashioned tail wagging dog marketing. It’s old school advertising propaganda, where it’s still thought that the audience, that’s you and moi, are dumb enough to actually believe everything we see on the tube, the youtube, etc.
Unfortunately, I think they do believe it will help their candidate. Because people still fawn over hollywood celebrities and because money talks. Look at the Oprah endorsement.
Heaven help us when they start shilling the Paris Hilton endorsement!
