Actually, many people think that the fact that the drugs are not legal is what makes it so easy to shuttle around large chunks of cash in a way that is likely to support terrorism.
Just like legalizing alcohol, it would take the wind out of the big mobsters smuggling around drugs – yeah, there would be some associated crime left, mostly in the form of tax evasion, but as a big source of violent crime, legalizing many currently illegal drugs would probably DECREASE violence.
However … which drugs? You can easily argue that Marijuana is the gateway to worse drugs without suitable education. Do you think we’re ever going to get such a conservative country to fund drug education while making it legal?
Moreover, there are drugs that are arguably so addictive that they would need to be heavily controlled – can you imagine the fun in Congress figuring out which is which?
So … the more you understand the way drugs effect this country, the more you see questions like this and shrug your shoulders.
Now, if you were a Hollywood celebrity, and you believed the above, what would YOU say? Its simply too complex for this sound-bite media, and somebody would immediately label you as being "soft on drugs" and let it go at that. "Soft on drugs = evil" to many neo-cons, people who have never really understood the drug problem in this country.
Study after study has shown that incarceration doesn’t work while education and drugs programs before-hand does (though it is far from perfect). However, in this country, saying you think that some drugs should be legalized is a PR nightmare.
Cause hollywood fools live in their own world. As long as they have millions of dollars and noone is knocking down their door they dont care about you or anyone. they talk enviroment and lots of bs they know nothing about. they dont have a clue about the real world. all they want to do is keep their rich fantasy going, and if you believe them then much harm can be done in the name of money.
they only fight causes that makes the headlines, the same way they only appear when a tragedy happens, or when theres an election, even though their mostly middle school dropouts, except paris, i dont think she went to school
